8/5/04 During this week's Town Council meeting, Councilman Phil Bzdyk reported that the responses to the barn survey had been tabulated and summarized (Word doc). The Town received a lot of feedback on the issue through the survey, but opinion was split fairly evenly between trying to save the structure of the barn and tearing it down to its foundation. During the course of the Council's discussion, it was decided that the best course of action was to incorporate the property into the Town's Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPAM) process, and through that process determine the best use for that particular site and then, once the use is decided, decide whether this use would best be served through restoration of the barn or through a new structure. The CPAM will be taken up by the Town Planning Commission starting in the fall and then go to the Town Council for approval by late October or early November. Both the Planning Commission and the Town Council will hold public hearings on the CPAM.
6/28/04 A questionnaire was sent to all Round Hill utility users asking for input on the future of the barn. Responses are due by July 15, 2004. The issue will be an agenda item at the August 5 Town Council meeting.
6/17/04 In the Town budget approved during the Town Council meeting, $80,000 has been set aside for improvements to the barn property. A questionnaire will be sent out asking for citizens' input on the future of this property.
