719 South

The Town of Round Hill is negotiating with the County to incorporate properties south on 719 (New Cut Road) into the Town. While the annexation is necessary for utility and tax-base purposes, it affords the Town the opportunity to shape development of the proposed incorporated properties.

719 Planning: Action to date
4/21/05 The Town Council approved the Comprehensive Plan Amendment for the Rt. 719 south area. It also passed an intent to amend the zoning map to include the area.  Public hearings and discussion will be required before the zoning map can be amended.
2/17/05 The Town Council and Planning Commission held a public hearing on the residential component of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment. Background and the content of the amendment was presented by Vlad Gavrilovic of Paradigm Design and Town Planning Commissioner Carter Morrow. After their presentation, the only public comment was a request by the president of Habitat For Humanity that the organization's property on Hayman Lane be rezoned to R-2 to allow for construction of a single-family home on that lot.

1/1/05 The annexation area officially became part of the Town of Round Hill.
9/28/04 The Planning Commission held a workshop to develop the final language to be adopted as an amendment to the Town's Comprehensive Plan.
6/16/04 The residential subcommittee of the Steering Committee for Amending the Town's Comprehensive Plan held its final meeting, during which a final draft of the policy framework and illustrations for the Route 719 South part of the Town Plan was completed. The plan will now be reviewed by the Town attorney before being submitted to the Planning Commission and Town Council for approval.
6/3/04 Mayor Frank Etro informed the Town Council that the schedule for the Town Comprehensive Plan Amendment has been pushed back several weeks after affected property owners pointed out some inconsistencies with the draft plan. Additional committee meetings have been scheduled to iron out these issues before the plan is presented to the Town Council.

4/26/04 At a joint meeting of the Town Council, Planning Commission and interested public, Mayor Etro formed a Steering Committee to draft an amendment to the Town's Comprehensive Plan. This committee will be broken into three subcommittees: residential, commercial, and presentation. The residential and commercial subcommittees agreed to meeting weekly on Monday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. through mid- to late-June. 4/19/04 At a joint meeting of the Town Council, Planning Commission and interested public, Mayor Etro discussed in detail the history of and justification for the proposed boundary line adjustment (BLA). As part of the BLA process, the Town must update its Comprehensive Plan to incorporate the additional properties.  A meeting was scheduled for April 26 at 7:30 p.m. to establish a Steering Committee to undertake developing the necessary Comprehensive Plan amendment.
4/7/04 A meeting has been scheduled for April 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office to create a joint committee of the Town Council, Planning Commission and members of the public in order to begin shaping the future of the Main Street Commercial District, the Route 7 commercial property and the residential annexation area south of Town on Route 719.
4/1/04 At its regular meeting, Town Council voted to approve a proposal for professional services from Paradigm Design to "undertake an open, participatory planning process" for the property on Route 719 south to be annexed into Town limits.
