Traffic calming

Controlling the speed of traffic on the town's roads is a high priority that is reflected in Town planning documents. Specific initiatives being advanced are detailed in the chart below.

5/2/06 Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott York addressed the through-truck traffic ban on Main Street in his report from the May 2 Board meeting:
"The Board of Supervisors accepted the Transportation/Land Use Committee's recommendation to advertise for a public hearing to be held on June 14, 2006. During the Public Hearing the Board will consider whether it should request the Virginia Department of Transportation to evaluate the implementation of a through-truck restriction on Main Street (Route 719) in the Town of Round Hill and a portion of Woodgrove Road (Route 719) between East Loudoun Street (Business Route 7) and Evening Star Drive, with the alternate route being East Loudoun Street (Business Route 7) to Evening Star Drive and continuing on Evening Star Drive to its intersection with Woodgrove Road (Route 719). The motion passed 9-0."
1/19/06 The Town Council passed a resolution asking the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to ask the Virginia Department of Transportation to restrict thru truck traffic along Main Street between Loudoun Street and Greenwood Drive. Resolution Text
7/1/04 During her report to council, Vice Mayor Meg Nash stated she has been working with the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a "residential speeding zone," which would impose an additional $200 fine on any drivers caught speeding through Town. (Editor's Note: VDOT approved the Town's request and residential speeding zones have been established throughout Town.)
